The rattle, which is made of an uncertain metal has a built in whistle and three rings with attached small three dimensional  round shaped free moving metal appendages. These do make a rattling sound when the whistle is shaken. The piece has a nice size thick handle made of MOP. The rattle makes a nice ringing or rattling when shook and the whistle works well when you blow through it.  The piece comes in a box marked J. E. Caldwell \u0026amp; Co.; 902 Chestnut St. Philadelphia.
